Prehistory - Early Medieval Romanesque, Renaissance & Mannerism Baroque, Rococo, Early American 19th Century 20th Century Non-Western The quizzes will build (most missed information will show up on next quiz) as the crash course progresses. The link to Art 1010 is a GREAT way to prepare! |
21st century art & what is happening NOW. This period in art is ever changing and we can only guess what will be remembered as important 100 years from now. Everything from Pinterest to the Maker Movement has impacted the current definition of what art is, who can do it and what it might be in the future. The goal of this unit is to explore 21st century art using the critical method and information from Unit 1 to form an educated OPINION about it. We will be using PBS Art 21 as our guide while we tie the contemporary art back to previous artists, artworks, art forms, cultures, etc. The independent project is to create a 6 slide presentation on the artist you were assigned according to the criteria to the left. It is DUE 12/9/15 to Ms. Cave via a pdf file posted to Edmodo with presentations the days following. Research project criteria: You must prepare a 6 slide presentation that addresses the following topics: 1-Demographic info – name, type of artist, artistic point of view, country of origin, where they studied, where they work now 2-The process they take to make their work (at least 6 images or a video of the process) 3-The work of other artists or cultures or art styles on their work (go way back) 4-A video, ted talk, interview, podcast, etc with the artist 5-A representative sample of their body of work (early to current) (at least 6 images) 6-Why you feel their work is valuable to today’s world The presentation must be posted to Edmodo no later than December 9 with presentations starting December 10 and quiz on December 18 You should use reputable sources: Khan Academy, Art 21 on PBS, Ted Talks, etc as well as museums of contemporary art are good sources. |
The exam will be CUMULATIVE, but multiple choice - so save all your quizzes and handouts so that you have what you need to study. We will do Portfolio presentations and exam review January 4-8, 2016.
Exam date for Art History is TBD |
